In this "positive-spin" approach to this "should you or shouldn't you?" issue, various plastic surgeons and, uh, enhanced women take us through the process of breast augmentation. Viewers are advised to seriously examine their reasons for considering this type of surgery, prepped on what to discuss with the doctor during initial consultations, shown the locations of scars (i.e., the different avenues of entry into the chest), as well as counseled on how to prepare for surgery, anesthesia choices, post-op routines, the lifespan of the implants themselves, and potential problems after recovery. Though the tape is generally positive, many pitfalls and realistic concerns are examined (although, oddly, implant leakage is not one of them). We do see both before-and-after photos and live shots of breasts, resulting in a "may not be suitable for children" warning at the video's beginning, but there could hardly be a program on this topic without such footage. Overall, this one is recommended for its reasoned approach and straightforward detail. Aud: P. (K. Glaser)

As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
