Determined to prove that they were as brave and as proud as any white military man, the blacks in the United States Cavalry were nicknamed ‘Buffalo Soldiers" by the Indians who were fascinated by their tight, curly hair. The Colorado Historical Society presented a museum exhibit on the Buffalo Soldiers in 1995, providing the foundation for this video which gives viewers a good idea of their accomplishments on the battle field and of the prejudices they still had to face from skeptical white soldiers. A worthy addition to any collection seeking to expand its black history materials. Recommended. Aud: H, P. (J. Carlson)
