This short documentary features rockabilly legend Carl Perkins being interviewed (shortly before his death in 1998), inside the old Sun Records studio in Memphis, the site of his earliest hits. Ever the eloquent gentleman and always willing to revisit old stories about life with producer Sam Phillips, and peers Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and Roy Orbison, Perkins speaks well of his colleagues. Anecdotes include the coming-together of the famous "Million Dollar Quartet," an occasion when Perkins, Presley, Lewis, and Cash all happened to be on the studio premises at the same time (Phillips wisely, and secretly, started rolling a tape inside the production booth once the music started). Perkins also relates a story about meeting the Beatles in 1964, still expressing amazement that the Fab Four carefully analyzed the craftsmanship of Perkins' records. Recommended. Aud: P. (T. Keogh)
