A contemporary take on a good old fashioned revival meeting, Carman in Concert: One Night Only features all the trappings of a rock concert: laser lighting, exuberant back up singers and dancers, and jammin' musicians, as award-winning Christian musician Carman presides over an appreciative audience at Dallas's Reunion Arena. Leading off with an upbeat number, and segueing into more thoughtful gospel fare, the program eventually escalates into a bizarre fire-and-brimstone affair stressing the evils of abortion, false religion, TV violence and drunk driving. Also featuring a promo for Carman's movie, The Champion, and a lengthy discourse on the Bible that concludes with a massive public confession of faith, this high-quality production (with a few weird quirks) is a strong optional purchase for larger music collections.
