Serving up a generous helping of history, geography, and local culture from the state of Nevada, Discoveries…America: Nevada looks beyond the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas strip to offer viewers a beautifully photographed armchair tour of the state's natural and manmade wonders, including Red Rock Canyon, Lake Mead, and the Hoover Dam, as well as the old mining towns of Eureka and Virginia City, and ghost towns such as Rhyolite. Viewers will also get a glimpse of the world's largest female sporting event, the Woman's International Bowling Congress held in Reno, not to mention drop in on the Virginia City Chili Cook-Off. One of the most interesting segments traces how Las Vegas went from an early Mormon settlement to the gambling capital of the world.
