There's no way to adequately describe the physical and mental challenges that a group of men and women from around the world put themselves through during the course of a 'race' held in the wilds of Morocco, sponsored by the Discovery Channel. Ranging from kayaking in treacherous seas, mountain biking over 118 miles of rugged terrain, rappelling from mountain cliffs that would intimidate experienced climbers, shifting from 100-plus degree sweltering days to below freezing nights, battling bouts of hypothermia and altitude sickness, and often squabbling with fellow team members, this is one hell of an endurance contest. Although one of the Australian members states that almost anyone could participate in the "Eco-Challenge," it is clear that only persons in perfect physical condition need apply. Narrated by Liam Neeson, this suspenseful, beautifully lensed production is not only a salute to the human spirit, but also an intimate look at the environment that puts that spirit to the ultimate test. Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. Aud: H, P. (J. Carlson)
