A palm tree grows in England? You bet, and you'll learn where in this nicely filmed videography of some of England's most precious landmarks. From magnificent Stonehenge to Belsay Hall where a long-gone quarry is now a man-made garden and home to an array of exotic plants (including the aforementioned palm tree), this tour shares a unique history of England's finest. It's a shame that with such abundant subject matter, the series doesn't offer much of a story; worse, the narration sounded rote and uninspired. Regardless, I do think the lushness and splendor of these historic sites are of interest to many library patrons who travel, and the series is therefore recommended, with reservations. The individual titles are: The Spirit of England, A Celebration of Old Roses, and Treasures of the Trust. Aud: J, H, P. (N. Plympton)
