Melted snow falling on rocks...and more rocks. Although this digital video recording of Yosemite's Nevada Fall is clearly a cut above average, the static camera shots will undoubtedly become monotonous and humdrum to even the most over-the-top waterfall lover. Accompanied by excerpts from Mozart (Symphonies No. 29 and 40), the endless shots of cascading water are often mismatched to the mood of the music, either through lazy editing or poor timing. Given the astounding nature cinematography and photography being done today, armchair devotees will not sit still for technically or conceptually mediocre tapes--and even by video wallpaper standards, this one is tedious. Sometimes you've got to just say no to TV, and either read John Muir, or go for your own walk in the woods. Not recommended. The first in a six part series (series price: $169.90) of "virtual getaways" in Yosemite, the other titles include: Climbing the Mist Trail to Vernal Fall, Tioga High Country and Yosemite Snow Fall (with music, according to the video jacket, by "Beethovan" [sic]).
