Ballooning attracts people of all ages all over the world, and is a sport that can be enjoyed by spectators and participants. In this program, we join Marv McKinley, pilot and instructor, and his crew as they go through the various steps in preparing for flight, from inflation to radio check. Then, it's up, up and away as we take to the air and experience some of the pleasures and practicalities of a flight. Breaking away for a history of ballooning and a visit to the Aerostar factory to watch the manufacture and testing of modern day craft, we rejoin the flight in progress for the final landing and pack up procedure, including a tailgate party to thank the ground crew. The video concludes with a segment covering balloon rallies--mass ascensions, competitions, and special displays of novelty balloons. Balloon hobbyists will love this celebration of their sport, of course, but anyone who has ever watched a colorful craft wafting above will also delight in this beautifully presented, thorough exploration of an increasingly popular pastime. Highly recommended. Aud: J, H, P. (J. Reed)
