Comparing maps of worldwide wolf habitats in the past and present is, unfortunately, a bit like looking at an advanced case of male pattern baldness (although, let me hasten to add that--excepting Demi Moore--bald is beautiful). The decrease in timber wolf numbers is a sad story, I'll admit, but it lacks narrative oomph in this pretty much straight-ahead point and shoot video production which (loosely) follows a pair of timber wolves and their offspring, combining slightly purple narration with essentially rhythm-less footage. All of the proceeds from the tape go to Wild Life Unlimited Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving wildlife in America, but there are much better programs available. Two which feature better cinematography and more in-depth information are World of Discovery: Wolf--Return of a Legend (VL-5/94) and Wolf: Beyond the Fairy Tale (VL-9/94). Not a necessary purchase.
