At the height of World War II, British SAS Captain M.R.D. Foot was captured by the Germans and interred in a concentration camp, where he would have certainly died from injuries sustained during his third escape attempt, were it not for the intercession and determination of one American Red Cross worker who not only altered the course of Foot's live, but the lives of 148 other Allied soldiers and airmen. For One English Officer, from filmmaker T.N. Mohan (Hanged on a Twisted Cross, reviewed in VL-1/97), tells this amazing story through firsthand accounts by Captain Foot and by his Red Cross savior, Andy Hodges, combined with historical newsreel footage that shows the deplorable conditions the men lived under, as well as the battle against almost impossible odds that Hodges had to overcome to win freedom for Foot and his fellow prisoners.
