Originating in China some 4,000 years ago, "Go" is acknowledged to be the world's oldest strategic board game. This short program describes the importance of the game to Asian culture (during feudal times, the playing of "Go" was limited to the samurai class), and its increasing popularity here in the U.S. Shot primarily at the San Francisco Go Club, the program interviews players who discuss the purpose and simple rules of the game, and talk about the subsidiary benefits of playing "Go," such as gaining a better understanding of the interrelationships between things. Although an interesting tape, the video and audio qualities are nothing to write home about. So, unless your community happens to have a large "Go"-playing population, this is not a necessary purchase. (See FRONTIER FOOTLIGHTS for availability.)
