Loosely tying segments together á la Charlie's Angels, this action-packed profile features some of the best female snowboard talent (in fact, some of these ladies are honored as characters in video games) demonstrating that extreme sports are not just for boys. Boasting creative camerawork, spectacular aerial maneuvers, and surf/skateboard-inspired moves, Hardly Angels' highlights include Tina Basich bombing down what looks like a nearly vertical slope in Alaska, triggering mini (and some larger) avalanches on virgin show (yes, this falls in the category of very-stupid-but-still-cool-looking); Kelly Clark shredding half-pipes; and another boarder performing a “kicker over the road” (literally jumping over a motorway from a 20-foot cliff as an auto drives underneath). So what's the difference between guys and gals? At the risk of sounding sexist, the girls are much more fun to watch than the guys, although not for the reasons you might suspect--women boarders exhibit more grace and poise than the fellas, who more often tend to bash and thrash. DVD extras include bonus footage and a "making of" featurette. Sure to appeal to fans of those bumper stickers that rightfully boast "girls kick ass!", this is recommended. Aud: P. (C. Block)
