This BIOGRAPHY profile takes a lighthearted look at the lives and careers of the three main stars of the Harry Potter film franchise: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. All are under the age of 21, and none have been embroiled in any shocking public scandals—as of publication date, anyway—so anyone looking for a torrid exposé of wild child stars will be disappointed. Instead, Harry Potter Kids kicks off with a background look at the phenomenal popularity of J.K. Rowling's acclaimed YA fantasy septology, before taking a behind-the-scenes peek at the original talent search for what has become the highest grossing film series of all time. Combining interviews with movie critics, filmmakers, and cast members, the program offers up a number of non-juicy tidbits: Radcliffe's parents initially balked at the idea of their son taking the role of the famous boy wizard, Watson lost baby teeth during filming, and Grint's unique homemade audition tape included dressing in drag and rapping. Although the material is already a little dated (made before Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince's push from late 2008 to summer 2009, and making no mention of the fact that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is being split into two films), this sure-to-be popular title is recommended, overall.
