Inside Story: Fight Like a Girl

Don't let the title fool you. This ain't no hair-pulling, blouse-ripping, nail-scratching, "you bitch" yelling ‘cat' fight. You won't see busty women in tight tee-shirts and thongs rolling around in the mud waiting for a male fantasy to happen. Professional boxing isn't just for boys anymore: here, Leah ‘the kitten' Mellinger and Kathy ‘the wildcat' Collins have both prepared long and hard to beat the bejeezus out of one another--just like the big boys. This edition of Inside Story hosted by (the rather annoying ) Bill Curtis, follows the fierce competition between Mellinger (an ex-beauty queen and resident underdog) and Collins (a street smart kid and title holder who has never lost a fight). We see the women work out at their respective gyms, and hear them talk about their rigorous training schedules, the respect they have for their trainers, their personal lives, and their hopes for the future. All of which leads up to ringside seats as these two bantam fighters finally square off in Atlantic City in the Main Event...and, no, I'm not going to reveal who won the match by a (swollen) nose. With the retro popularity of wrestling and other combat sports, this profile of lady boxers is a good choice for general collections. Recommended.
