Combining photography, music, history and storytelling to give viewers an appreciation for different cultures around the world, the Tribute Series' latest production, Ireland: A Tribute, provides an introduction to the Emerald Isle. Unfortunately, while some of the photography is beautiful, many of the scenes appear to be shot with a camcorder, and the overall production suffers from a lack of organization: one moment the viewer is in the West, the next in Dublin, then down in the South, without any cohesive theme to justify the seemingly random geographical shifts. Viewers will see the Dingle Peninsula, Lakes of Killarney, Derry, Dublin, and Connemara, as well as other famous places, supplemented with enjoyable interviews featuring storytellers who share some of the local legends and myths, and "live" Irish and background music. Still, the general choppiness of this program makes this an optional purchase, at best. A better choice here would be Discoveries…Ireland: The Emerald Isle (VL-5/02). Aud: P. (J. Asala)

This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
