John Tesh might not be the best singer in the world--in fact, he's sometimes not very good at all--but his live performances have both a hallelujah energy and an air of deep, moving Christian contemplation that is hard to resist, no matter what your religious beliefs. Surrounded by the naturally rugged splendor of Colorado's famous Red Rocks Amphitheater, Tesh and band bite into joyous gospel on the opener, "God Is My Rock," plunge into the meditative ballad (with a sprightly bridge) "Trading My Sorrows," and jump-start the catchy "Voice of One" with a space-rock introduction. Tesh alternately wows and calms the crowd, sparking excitement with "an oldie but goodie" such as "Open the Eyes of My Heart" (which sounds a little like Van Halen's "Jump"), while also taking time out for prayer. DVD extras include behind-the-scenes footage and a look at Tesh's radio show. Recommended. Aud: P. (T. Keogh)
