For anyone looking for a video they can use to scare their daughters into practicing safe sex and avoiding unwanted pregnancies, this title is your answer. Kelly Loves Tony charts the course of a romance between Kelly Saeteurn and Tony Saelio, both members of refugee families from Laos. Kelly has just graduated from high school, while Tony is a dropout with a criminal record, zero clues, and a rap sheet that has drawn the attention of the INS. Not only does Kelly become pregnant, by video's end she has had her baby and is pregnant again. So much for her college aspirations. As far as production values go, think of your neighbor's home videos. The audio is bad, and the video and editing qualities are mickey mouse, but the message shines through and it's ugly. NAATA may think that this video is about a couple struggling to save their relationship, but in fact it's about how a young woman can completely erase her future with one bad decision. The question is whether high school girls will be able to see the harsh reality underneath the romance as it's presented here. An optional purchase. Aud: H, C, P. (P. Van Vleck)
