Commissioned in response to an earlier PBS program that father's-rights advocates slammed as one-sided, Kids & Divorce offers a measured but no less heartbreaking appraisal of the difficulties faced by children of divorced parents, exploring the various legal procedures involved in decisions concerning custody and visitation. Hosted by Emmy-winning journalist Dave Iverson, the hour-long special features testimony from both kids and parents, presented in a sober, non-exploitative manner (although some of this will almost certainly bring a lump to any viewer's throat). In addition, the film examines the effect of recently developed educational programs designed to help divorcees and their children cope with a family's dissolution in the most positive, productive way possible. Shedding light on one of society's most emotionally-charged issues, Kids & Divorce is definitely recommended. Aud: C, P. (E. Hulse)
