This sumptuously filmed record of the art masterpieces of the world which are housed in the Louvre is broken down by department: in succession, viewers are given a tour of 1) the Orient, 2) Egypt, 3), Greece & Rome, 4) Sculpture, 5) Paintings, and 6) Art objects. All of the major artists are covered (although not always their best-known works), and a good smattering of historical background is served up with the visual delights. Made in France, the soundtrack has been translated into English, with additional comments giving the specific names of art pieces. The occasional English word is mispronounced, but overall the narration is solid and informative. Recommended. (Provided by and available from: Alymer Press, P. O. Box 2735, Madison, WI 53701).

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
