Showcasing three native acts, Legends of New Orleans, hosted by Ed Bradley, combines performance footage of Allen Toussaint, Dr. John and the Neville Brothers playing at the 2000 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival with interview clips of each and producer Cosimo Matassa. While there are some notable highlights here (Toussaint's "Certain Girl," "Mother in Law," "Workin' in the Coalmine" and "What Is Success?"--with Bonnie Raitt on guitar; Dr. John's signature song "Right Place, Wrong Time"; and the Neville Brothers' "Fire on the Bayou" and "Crazy Love"), the back and forth between interviews and songs spread out over three performers adds up to short shrift on the music. Either a longer highlights concert or separate discs on any of the three artists would have been preferable (Dr. John performs a total of two songs here) to this rather meager compilation presented with a vanilla non-Dolby soundtrack. Very optional. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
