Kudos once again to Art Plotnik, Donna Kitta, and the LVN production crew for another engaging look at the world of libraries and librarians. The third issue kicks off with a look at the 50th birthday of the Caldecott Medal and its impact, reporting on the differing views of authors, booksellers, and librarians. Other segments include: an overview of 'fast-track' libraries: branches that appear in shopping malls, commuter stations, and supermarkets; the campaign activities of ALA presidential hopefuls; a disturbing appraisal of the uncertain future of library schools; a humorous quest to find Chicago's Central Library; and a visually sumptuous look at Florida's "sun-kissed" libraries. Our favorite story was "The Road Less Traveled", a courageous tale of the North Country Mediamobile in New Hampshire, whose feisty and outspoken driver Lil Edelmann and her colleague John Wright get the books to the people come hell or high snow drifts. Recommended. (Available from: ALA Video, 50 East Huron St., Chicago, IL 60611).

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
