Closing out their third year, the LVM crew deliver another excellent potpourri of visual tales from the realm of libraryland. Hostess Angela Stribling gets things off to a running start with a fascinating story about Mary Jo Dwyer, a traveling librarian who, as part of the CRHIS (Circuit Rider Health Information Service) group, is responsible for bringing up-to-date medical information to six Texas hospitals. With her PC hooked into MEDLINE, the database of the National Library of Medicine, Mary Jo has been called on to literally deliver life-and-death information in emergency situations. In other segments, the LVM crew: visits the library at Bowling Green State University, where kitsch is material for serious study-the campus library holds the nation's largest collection of popular culture materials, ranging from comic books to counterculture flyers; talks with incoming ALA Executive Director Linda Crismond about her goals and objectives; peeks at the playground which is the Children's Room at Dallas Public Library; and stops in at the University of Wisconsin/Madison's School of Library and Information Studies, where the outgoing class of '89 demonstrates an upbeat and creative approach to the subject of librarianship. Highly recommended. (See CONTROLLING THE CONFRONTATION for availability.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
