While this highlight reel of rock 'n roll "living legends" caught on film during a four-day bash at Tennessee's Itchycoo Park sometimes brought to mind the title of Jethro Tull's 1976 LP Too Old to Rock 'n Roll, Too Young to Die, the question remains: who in their right musical Baby Boomer minds would pass up the chance to watch Iron Butterfly trudge through an only slightly truncated version of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" (my wife Anne: "I broke a speaker on this song; couldn't get it loud enough"), or Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad fame performing "I'm Your Captain/I'm Getting Closer to My Home," or John Kay and Steppenwolf belting out "Magic Carpet Ride" and " Born to Be Wild," or Rare Earth muscling their way through "Get Ready"? Okay, we probably didn't need Firefall singing "You Are the Woman" or The Nelsons (twin sons of Ricky) doing "Love & Affection," but there's enough nostalgia here (did I mention Styx, Jefferson Starship and Christopher Cross?) to fuel any number of Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill-tinged musical flashbacks. Recommended, overall. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
