Apparently the Bronx was the place to be in the 1950s. Several celebrities join other residents of this often-maligned New York borough to reflect on their childhood and offer insights on growing up in the streets in this poignant film. The urban blight that affects many cities in the United States has removed the feeling of security that comedian Robert Klein, singer Jerry Vale, producer Garry Marshall, and others remember so vividly: whether sneaking into a Yankees game, playing 'electric football', or hanging out on the front stoop with friends on a hot summer night, the memories here underscore the fact that it was the twilight of innocence. New York libraries will definitely want to add this to their collections, but others will also find it to be a worthy resource for those willing to take an enjoyable stroll down memory lane to revisit the "good old days." Recommended. [Note: Memories from the Stoop is also available from Vide-O-Go as a bonus program on the DVD version of A View From the Stoop (VL-11/03), priced at $39.95.] Aud: C, P. (J. Carlson)
