Michael Flatley Gold

With the latest Michael Flatley feet feat, Universal Studios Home Video adds an unnecessary extension to an otherwise solid VHS/DVD dance card. Ostensibly, a greatest hits retrospective, Michael Flatley Gold intertwines clips from Riverdance, Lord of the Dance and Feet of Flames (all individually available) with copious--though not necessarily interesting--commentary from the dance lord himself. Die-hard fans will appreciate the backstage rehearsal footage, archival clips of Flatley touring with The Chieftains, home movie footage, "new" Feet of Flames highlights from a performance in Budapest in 2000, and preview dances from the set of Flatley's autobiographical film (long in production with the current status uncertain), but general viewers will probably find the aforementioned full-length performances--which are not interrupted by tedious, unrevealing happy talk from Esquire's 1997 "Dubious Man of the Year"--to be a much better choice.
