For those who get a laugh out of watching professional athletes behaving in a decidedly nonathletic manner, this collection of awkward moments from Major League Baseball may lead to a few giggles and guffaws. But as with any blooper reel, too much of a good thing eventually becomes tiresome. This two-disc set compiles a pair of programs: MLB Bloopers: The Funny Side of Baseball, narrated by Chris Kattan; and MLB Bloopers: Baseball's Best Blunders, narrated by John Webber. A few scenes are genuinely funny for their sheer absurdity: a ball bounces off José Canseco's head and ricochets out of the park as a home run; Tommy Lasorda is knocked into a near-somersault when a cracked bat from a powerful slugger flies into his generous gut; a flock of seagulls interfere with a right fielder's attempt to catch a ball; and a weird-looking feral kitten evades a bedraggled groundskeeper at the old Seattle Kingdome. But after awhile, this compilation becomes bogged down in repetition: a seemingly endless number of players are seen running into each other, falling down while rounding bases, dropping balls out of their mitts, or crashing into the bleachers. And the fans are highlighted as well, with the obligatory large number of shots of spectators trying (and often failing spectacularly) to catch errant baseballs. Optional. Aud: P. (P. Hall)
