Produced and narrated by Chip Taylor, Muir Woods is a lovely short subject about one of our most beautiful National Monuments. Located just outside of San Francisco, Muir Woods contains redwoods that date as far back as 2,200 years ago, and stretch as high as 250 ft. into the sky. While the camera generously samples the sights from the six miles of walking trails within the 560-acre park, the narration informs viewers of the generous gift of Muir Woods, made by William and Elizabeth Kent in 1905, and declared a National Monument by Teddy Roosevelt in 1908; discusses the composition and characteristics of the trees; and recites Joseph Strauss' 1932 poem "The Redwoods." Good camerawork, interesting narration, and a soothing soundtrack by Narada guitarist William Ellwood, make watching Muir Woods a pleasant and informative experience. Recommended.
