Youth Life guidance counselor Chap Clark is the spirited, insightful, and very funny speaker in this seminar about dating, love, and sex aimed at Christian teens. In the opening segment, "How do your spell love?" Clark discusses the difference between the Greek words eros and agape, the former of which he defines as selfish, conditional, and temporary, while the latter, he says, is love that is giving, committed, and lasting. Needless to say, Clark thinks that we have a bit too much eros in the culture today, and not enough agape. In the second part of the program, he shows the audience a "relationship graph," which he uses to chart the emotional, physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, and degree of commitment aspects of a relationship. Using the chart, he demonstrates to viewers how to tell if their relationship is primarily one of eros or agape. In the third segment, Clark humorously re-enacts a dating relationship, including a very funny take on the ubiquitous movie date. And, in the final segment, he talks about sexual relationships. Although Clark eventually comes down on the side of abstinence, there's nothing really preachy about his approach. In fact, until the final 10 minutes in the program, most people wouldn't necessarily recognize that this is a Christian video. The bottom line is that Clark has a keen understanding of teens and their problems, a great rapport with his young audience, and some excellent advice for the struggling and confused. Highly recommended. Editor's Choice. [Note: the workbook included with the tape is neither necessary to nor mentioned during the video.]
