Whether the players are professional card sharks or B-list celebrities, the proliferation of TV programs concentrating on high stakes poker is somewhat astonishing. Focusing on filmmakers and former romantic partners Susan Genard and Timothy E. Rhys (who shares directing credits with Brian O'Hare), No Limit follows the bickering duo as they try to raise funds for their struggling film company by traveling the country for eight months (with a four-year-old kid in tow) playing in high-stakes poker tournaments—culminating with the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas (like many Vegas events, this one also fails to measure up to the surrounding hype and hoopla—at least here). Interwoven throughout are interview sound bites with some 40 professional poker players, who talk about their highs and lows at the card table. Unfortunately, for the non-poker-obsessed, No Limit is a rather monotonous watch, and even though Susan fancies herself a great card player (and obviously is entered in major competitions), the viewer never sees any evidence of this prowess (in fact, she loses repeatedly on camera). Not recommended. Aud: P. (P. Hall)
