The Earth's largest habitat is the ocean, covering 70% of its surface, and home to over a quarter-million varieties of plant and sea life. Offering a solid overview of the vast kingdom beneath the waves in two zones (the light and the dark), this program explores the ocean floor's terrain (just as varied as on land, with shelves, troughs, and mountains), and the effects of light (or its lack) on life. If light can penetrate, plants can grow, thus providing food for a plethora of sea creatures. However, in the deeper waters, the lack of light and immense water pressure make life scarcer, but also more adaptive. Various species indigent to each zone are also highlighted. Video images, stock film footage, and some clever graphics are edited together fairly well to create this useful addition to units in biological sciences or as a research resource. Other titles in the series include Forest Habitat and Desert Habitats. Aud: I, J. (E. Gieschen)

This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
