A visually dazzling big screen IMAX film about one of nature's most geographically fortuitous links--Mexico's Sea of Cortés and the Baja California peninsula desert--Ocean Oasis explores the underlying reasons for the prolific concentration of sea- and land-life in the Baja region, serving up spectacular footage of whales, manta rays, elephant seals, and terns, among other magnificent creatures. Divided into 12 sections, each exploring a specific aspect of the Baja ecosystem and its role in helping to create a nutrient-rich environment nurturing one of the most bountiful regions on the planet, the film suffers a bit from occasionally lame narration. But viewers will be too busy feasting upon the many scenes of beauty to notice. DVD extras include behind-the-scenes footage, a featurette, and a production slideshow. Highly recommended.
