Actor Peter Coyote narrates this affectionate portrait of the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, recently the recipient of the Nobel Prize for Peace. Self-exiled to India in 1959, following the longstanding persecutions of the People's Republic of China against Tibet, the Dalai Lama has continued to be a beacon for his followers, and an inspiration to the world at large. Included are revealing interview clips which give viewers insight not only into the man's Buddhist lifestyle and commitment to non-violence, but also show the personal side of this engaging, gentle man (he is, for example, an expert tinkerer, fascinated by technology and has been able since childhood to disassemble and reassemble watches and other mechanical items).
