Comprised of two videocassettes--The Inner Planets (which covers Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Earth) and The Outer Planets (looking at Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto)--the Our Solar System series introduces intrepid travelers Nina, a young student, and her teddy bear Bernie. In an animated introduction, Nina makes a few modifications to her father's VW Microbus and zooms off to explore the solar system. Each planetary segment points out vital statistics such as the planet's distance from the sun, period of revolution, diameter, etc., as well as looking at prominent topographical features, discussing atmospheric conditions, and pointing out gravitational differences between the planets. Fairly simple animation, charts and photos, and some computer animation are used to provide a basic introduction to the solar system. Recommended. (Available from: Allied Video Corp., P.O.
