Denizens of the Mountain Dew generation don't need a description of this movie: whining about the endlessly re-purposed footage of prominent extreme athletes like Tony Hawk, Rob Machado, and Mike Todd, or voicing complaints about the relentless stream of generic So-Cal punk (only periodically rising to the heights of Fugazi or the Beatnuts) on the soundtrack would fall on deaf ears. So long as there are extended sequences of people falling down staircases, pulverizing their groins on banisters, and getting whacked in the head with surfboards, the lameness quotient hardly matters. On the technical side, musical crescendos rarely coincide with impressive stunts and the film's flow feels arbitrary (whenever boredom strikes, the filmmakers cut to random shots of women in thongs and bikinis, shifting the tone from phallocentric to exploitative). Not recommended. [Note: also available, at the same price, Over the Edge: Motorcycle Mayhem X.] Aud: P. (D. Fienberg)
