Over There offers a unique perspective on America's first major international war since all footage presented was shot by United States Army Signal Corps personnel who had access to locations unavailable to civilian news groups. Although there may have been some censorship by military officials, there is an authenticity about this film that adds significantly to its overall impact. The technical quality of the film is also exceptional considering the age of the footage and the primitive conditions under which it was shot. World War I was our first modern war (airplanes, tanks, and artillery) yet it also marked the final appearance of conventional military strategy and tactics. This film first appeared in 1927 and has been remastered with voice-over narration and original music added in 1996. Recommended for libraries with larger military collections. Aud: C, P. (J. Carlson)
