“Follow your passion. Make a difference. Create an inspired life.” This is the message of Phyllis Lane's excellent visual pep talk Passion, which is essentially a series of talking-head interview clips featuring artists, writers, photographers, musicians, and filmmakers of all ages, ethnicities, and walks of life. A surprisingly coherent film that is also beautifully shot, edited, and scored, Passion is loosely organized around topics such as “Inspiration,” “Create,” and “Commitment,” as interviewees share their ideas and stories about their creative lives, while emphasizing how following their passion brings them joy, balance, and emotional freedom. The DVD also includes a beautiful accompanying book that features production stills, inspirational quotes about creativity, information about the film's participants, and a list of resources “to get your creative juices flowing.” Highly recommended. Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
