One of a nine-part series designed to be used in the classroom as a vehicle to promote discussion about problems faced by young adults in today's society, Weapons and Violence combines commentary from teens and school administrators as it explores the questions of why teens bring weapons to school in the first place, what students should do if they see a weapon on school grounds, and where kids should turn if they overhear someone making threats of violence. In addition to pointing out that dress codes can be put in place for safety reasons and that search and seizure rights are more encompassing on school property, the program offers suggestions for avoiding situations that create racial tension, diffusing confrontations, and choosing friends wisely. Offering useful information for both teens and their parents, along with additional resources listed at the end of the video, this is recommended. The other titles in the series are: Smoking, Drugs, Alcohol, Peer Pressure, Teens and the Law, Bullies & Harassment, Racial Tension and Bill of Rights. Aud: J, H, P. (L. Stevens)
