Among the world's special military forces--SEALS, Delta Force, etc.--the British S.A.S. units are particularly known for their endurance, willingness to take on impossible assignments, and total commitment to success. Under the deceptively vague title of ‘Special Air Services', the S.A.S. is largely unknown to the general public, and while this video does not completely remove the cover of secrecy that surrounds the S.A.S., it does present the first in-depth look at this supersecret military unit. Viewers will see the rigorous training undertaken by S.A.S. recruits, as well as a particularly harrowing segment dealing with treatment accorded to prisoners of war and other captives. Even with the use of re-enactments, the scenes of torture and interrogation are chilling and contain raw language. Part Two shows a mixture of actual combat footage taken during the Gulf War, as well as additional re-enactments of other battles. Taken as a whole, this is an uncompromising look at a tougher-than-nails military unit that has been kept under wraps for many years. Public libraries with larger military collections, as well as most military libraries, will find this a popular addition. Recommended. Aud: P. (J. Carlson)
