Lake Kinneret, the most famous lake in the world, is better known to us as the Sea of Galilee, the site of Christ's Sermon on the Mount, and the miracles of the loaves and the fishes. This interesting documentary, produced by the Israeli Film Service, discusses the religious and historical importance of the sea and its surrounding environs, as well as detailing contemporary life there. Recent archaeological digs have unearthed Beth Saida, abandoned some 2,000 years ago, and believed to be the birthplace of the disciples Peter, Andrew, and Philip. Today, modern fishermen ply the waters, netting the delectable St. Peter's Fish, and tourboats ferry pilgrims across the lake, as visitors continue to flock to the area for religious and recreational reasons. Sea Of Dreams is the biography of a place, a place that exists in most of our minds as more of a symbol than an actual geographical location teeming with life and brimful of history. Recommended.
