During his tragically short life (he apparently died of TB at the age of 23), Christian invented the prototype for the electric guitar, broke racial bounds as a member of the Benny Goodman Sextet, and was (many believe) the catalyst for BeBop and modern jazz. Contemporary interviews with friends and fellow musicians filmed in arty b&w are presented, along with archival footage and slides; however, the sound is surprisingly bad in a lot of the newer footage.
