A loving tribute to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir, Martin Daley's Something to Sing About documents their rehearsals, performances, and competitions over a year's time. We meet some of the 100-member choir and learn their personal histories--when they came out of the closet, how their families reacted, and the people they've lost to AIDS. While the film doesn't delve too deeply into these issues, it provides an insight into the importance of the choir. The members are bound by a feeling of togetherness, and their bond is at once inspiring and honest. They can also carry a tune, be it Gershwin or ABBA. Recommended. (L. Russo)
