Spirit of '93 tells a dual story: the first part tells of the Cherokee, Nez Perce, Pawnee, and others, who were in the words of Isaac Gibson in 1870 "shorn of their territory piece by piece;" the second part follows the 100,000 white settlers who on September 16, 1893 engaged in the land run for the 42,000 land parcels "newly" up for grabs. Combining historic stills and interviews with people who--believe it or not--were there (the 106 year old Edith Joyce Davis and the 109 year old Clarence Emerson), Spirit of '93 tells stories of hardship, greed, and tragedy both for the Native Americans and the white settlers. Recommended. (Available from: Instructional Video, Inc., 727 "O" St., Lincoln, NE 68508; (800) 228-0164.)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
