A well crafted, high quality PBS presentation, hosted by Jerry Johnston and CeCe Winans, that intercuts interview footage with a live talk show format, Teen Suicide takes an honest, thorough look at "the silent epidemic." During filmed clips, teen suicide survivors attest to the feelings of helplessness, withdrawal and angst--brought on by the various triggers of divorce, sexual abuse, the breakup of relationships, drugs and alcohol--that led them to contemplate ending their lives. In a powerful, surprise ending, the program reveals that these "testimonials" were recorded in 1992 and that some of the kids from the original interviews are sitting in the studio audience. Now young adults with fulfilling lives and relationships, these survivors tell the audience how misguided was their urge to end their lives 10 years earlier. A significant contribution to the subject, this excellent, affordable program is highly recommended. Aud: J, H, P. (R. Ray)
