The Best of Killington, which profiles a six mountain ski resort in Vermont, is a semi-commercial guide to both the resort and the surrounding environs. Hosted by Christopher Peake, the program begins with general information concerning Killington, such as the fact that it offers over 225 days of skiing per year on some 107 ski trails comprising a total of 77 miles. High points of each of the six mountains are discussed, as we see footage of skiers merrily bumping their way downhill. The bulk of the program is given over to brief video vignettes of restaurants, b & b's and inns, and shopping centers in and around Killington. In addition, day trips to neighboring Woodstock and to a maple sugar farm are shown. A "merchant's reference guide" at the close of the tape lists the establishments covered in the program and their phone numbers. Obviously, there are no critical comments made about either the resort or the dining and lodging offerings in the area. Still, the program does cover a wide variety of activities, including visiting local museums and art galleries, which place it ahead of the strictly commercial video guide. Purchase according to need. [Note: There are five other titles available in the series: The Best of Breckenridge, The Best of Copper Mountain, The Best of Steamboat Springs, The Best of Winter Park (all four in Colorado), and The Best of Mont Tremblant (in Quebec).] (Available from most distributors.)
