Sweden's whimsical Cardigans spun their frothy, dreamy, roller-rink rock for a crowd at Shepherds Bush Empire in November 1996, and the mixed results are on display in this 18-song concert. Nina Persson's sour vocals are a persistent irritant, detracting from her more interesting bandmates' smart jazz and blues phrases hidden within infectious, cheesy, cocktail pop. The set opens with a witty, cotton candy reworking of Black Sabbath's heavy metal anthem "Iron Man," with other highlights including the giddy "Hey! Get Out of My Way," the bright, garden-fresh "Rise and Shine," and their hit "Lovefool." Persson's off-key warbling, however, makes for a rough aural journey. DVD extras include the short "First Band on the Moon" and a photo gallery. Optional. Aud: P. (T. Keogh)
