Fronted by the trilling Irish vocals of Dolores O'Riordan (think: the anti-Enya), power pop quintet The Cranberries stormed Paris' Palais Omnisport de Bercy on Dec. 9, 1999, captured here on this 22 song-laden, extras-enhanced DVD. Although their latest album Bury the Hatchet landed with a critical and commercial thud, the band is in fine form here, with new cuts "Promises," "Animal Instinct," "Just My Imagination" and "Desperate Andy" holding their own with audience favorites such as "Linger," "Zombie" and "Dreams." While the DVD menu is a veritable labyrinth that would have perplexed Theseus with its numerable branchings, the bountiful extras include mini-docs with the band and roadies, additional live performance clips, three music videos, lyrics, stills, and extensive technical notes on The Cranberries' instruments (for the truly faithful). Nicely filmed and featuring living-room filling Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, this solid entry from Limerick's Little Band That Could is recommended. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
