There's no copyright date on this program, but since the narrator says that Nostradamus predicted the Third World War would start as early as 1986, and that that "was only two years away", 1984 seems a good guess. John Waters hosts this tour through the prophecies of the 16th century mystic Nostradamus, whose predictions have given rise to a small cottage industry of books by modern day interpreters. His more famous predictions include the French Revolution, the birth of America, and both Kennedy assassinations. Of course, Nostradamus was not quite so literal, and a few experts are called into explain how the language he used was metaphorical for the events which he couldn't understand. While interesting, this documentary relies on timeliness-and there are a couple of notable bonos for the years 1986-1989 (including the Great San Francisco Earthquake II, scheduled for May 1988; which was a no-show). But just to be on the safe side, you might want to pass on a vacation to Rome, which Nostradamus predicted would go nova before 1995. And, for what it's worth, here's an interesting tidbit-the world will end in 3797. Mark your calendars. Not recommended. (Available from most distributors.)
