Partially intended to help hype the upcoming sequels, this "making-of" The Matrix offers a great big wet kiss to the surprise sci-fi hit. Appealing primarily to the movie's considerable fan base, the extensive compilation of interviews, film clips, and “behind the scenes” footage comprises a lengthy program typically included as supplemental material on a deluxe DVD. Just about everyone associated with the movie--actors, cinematographer, costume designer, storyboard artists, F/X wizards, et al.--rhapsodize about the admittedly groundbreaking film and its marvelous, talented, wonderful directors, the Wachowski brothers. “It's so smart that it's a miracle that it got made,” enthuses star Lawrence Fishburne. More gushy than insightful, but still worth a look. A strong optional purchase, especially given the popularity and the price. Aud: P. (T. Rich)
