This hour-long program offers a talking-heads-heavy look at the Mayo Clinic's diet guide, which was defined in 2009. While the outline of the actual diet isn't really presented until towards the end, the Mayo experts interviewed here provide an overview that focuses on the challenges of reversing bad habits while employing the Mayo diet as a lifestyle change to aim for long-term success. Real-life participants talk about family support systems, engaging in new physical activities, and the weight gain that can come from stress. Positive suggestions on self-monitoring, journaling, and making better choices regarding portion size, calories, and using food as fuel (rather than for pleasure) are also discussed. Although much of this is common sense, The Mayo Clinic Diet wisely emphasizes the replacement of poor patterns (such as adding sugar) with good habits (exercise, loading up on fruits and veggies). Likely to be popular due to the Mayo name, this is recommended. Aud: P. (J. Williams-Wood)
